House Mouse spoke to me in ways that were both deeply personal and unexpectedly refreshing. Jack Lown doesn’t just recount the hard truths of incarceration—he tells the stories like you’re sitting with him at a kitchen table.

Reading House Mouse felt like having a hard conversation with someone who’s lived through it all and still has the heart to fight for change. It’s a reminder that behind every prison statistic is a person, a family, and a community impacted by this broken system.

Jack, in his own words.
director of the LOWN documentary
Today, I want to spotlight Jack’s book, HOUSE MOUSE: The Criminal Justice System in a Nutshell. This compelling work goes beyond being a simple recounting of his life—it’s a raw, unfiltered account told entirely in Jack’s own voice, free from the constraints of political correctness or polished narratives.
After several months of uncertainty, Jack is finally ready to return in front of the camera. It’s been four or five months since his initial hospital stay, and while his body endured significant challenges, I believe the mental recovery has been the greatest obstacle. Witnessing his renewed spark has been incredibly inspiring, and I’m eager to continue capturing footage for LOWN 122080.
"I have something to tell you"
Jack has invited me to lunch to share his thoughts and reflect on what’s been on his mind.
